In the year 2025, the Giant Chicks Farm began a breeding program to create an ultimate dual purpose bird for free range environments. Located in Bowling Green, KY near the Barren River. Hawks and eagles fly overhead searching for prey. Several decades of experience with overhead predators eating small laying hens made the free ranging experience very difficult and often sad.
We decided to change that!
Since introducing the Indio Gigantes to our farm we have not had any deaths by overhead predators. We have collected one dead hawk and there wasn’t even a scratch on our roosters. We also couldn’t determine which hen may have been attacked. So far… So good!
